This unit describes the performance outcomes required to assess and repair faults to vehicle metal components as a result of manufacturing and production line damage or defective metal.

It applies to individuals in an automotive and related component manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a specialist level.

1. Plan and prepare

1.1 Work order, job instructions and quality requirements are located and confirmed with appropriate personnel

1.2 Tools and equipment required for the job are identified, selected and checked for faults and correct operation

2.1 Vehicle components are inspected for fault against job specifications and workplace quality standards

4.1 Work area is cleaned, and materials disposed of, reused or recycled according to workplace procedures and cost-reduction initiatives
