Version 1.0
Issue Date: April 2024
This unit applies to business continuity planning in small, medium and large organisations.
This role is undertaken by staff with managerial responsibility.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop business continuity plans, processes and tools.
Business continuity is the stage between a crisis occurring and the implementation of a disaster recovery plan. It is aimed at keeping as many of the business critical operations operating as possible during this period.
Competence in this unit requires the development of a business continuity plan that will allow an organisation to continue operating, even if in a diminished capacity or only through business critical functions, until functionality is restored. It also requires analysis, planning, risk assessment and communication.
