This unit of competency supports the application of communication, day-to-day organisational, problem-solving and self-management skills and the use of technology. The skills and knowledge acquired upon completion of this unit would support the needs of employees in the surveying and spatial information services industry sector in positions such as field hands, field work coordinators and data collection officers.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements pertaining to relevant states or territories, and codes concerning the loading and unloading of goods, including mass and loading regulations dealing with over-size and over-mass permits, apply to this unit.
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to use light vehicles, including boats, to transfer personnel and loads. It requires the ability to operate four-wheel drive vehicles in off-road conditions, and to load according to plans to ensure efficiency and safety of operations. Functions would be carried out under supervision, often in a team environment, and within organisational guidelines.
