This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the production of a collaborative creative project. It involves contributing to the project set-up and development, as well as using technical skills, tools, materials and equipment to assist in the project’s realisation.

It applies to individuals who are using and developing their skills when collaborating on creative projects in many different creative areas. The projects could include community art projects organised through local councils, business organisations or educational institutions.

No licensing, legislative or certification conditions apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1. Participate in project set-up

1.1 Liaise with others involved in the project to identify overall purpose and goals of creative project

1.2 Agree on responsibilities for the different aspects of the work within the team, including timelines

1.3 Where appropriate, contribute to developing ideas for the creative project

2. Contribute to collaborative creative work

2.1 Organise resources needed for individual or team work, based on own role and responsibilities and project timelines

2.2 Share creative and technical ideas with other people during the making of the work

2.3 Use a range of technical creative skills safely to support evolving ideas in the particular area of creative work

2.4 Test and refine techniques through the production of work within the parameters of the project

2.5 Follow through on own responsibilities within the project

3. Review collaborative work

3.1 Identify and resolve practical and interpersonal challenges in collaborative work within scope of own role

3.2 Participate in a review of the project processes and outcomes with other team members

3.3 Seek feedback on own role and identify skill development opportunities

3.4 Provide supportive feedback to others

Evidence of the ability to:

agree on project purpose, goals and responsibilities with team members

organise and use a range of techniques, tools, materials and equipment in the particular area of creative work

test and refine techniques within scope of established responsibilities

participate in a review of the creative project outcomes and processes.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

describe different types of, and contexts for, collaborative creative projects, including the ways they are resourced and run

describe resources needed for the creative work in the relevant area of work

describe different roles played by people in a collaborative project and ways to participate constructively and positively

identify typical problems that arise within a group project and how they may be avoided or addressed

identify safety considerations for the work being undertaken.

Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:

materials, tools and equipment required for realising the creative work.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts.
