This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop and discuss ideas for own creative work. It involves research and analysis, as well as the ability to take part in critical and informed discussion with others about the creative work for a particular art form.

It applies to individuals who work across all areas of creative practice. This work would usually be carried out under mentored supervision.

No licensing, legislative or certification conditions apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

outline historical and contemporary sources of information in chosen area of practice that can serve to inform the development of ideas

outline communication techniques that facilitate productive discussions around ideas for creative work

describe effective ways of collaborating in creative practice

describe intellectual property issues that affect the development of ideas for own creative work.

Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in creative arts industry environments. The assessment environment must include access to:

interaction with others.

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational educational and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.
