Assessment tool
Version 1.0
Issue Date: April 2024
The application of this unit in the workplace - the environments, complexities and situations involved - will be written during Phase II of the Review of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package.
This text will be useful for the purposes of job descriptions, recruitment advice or job analysis; where possible, it will not be too job specific to allow other industries to import it into other Training Packages, where feasible.
This unit covers the competency required to maintain, install and remove restraint systems.
This Unit of Competency is applicable to a range of personal restraint systems.
Maintaining a restraint system includes inspecting, isolating faults, replacing, repairing and cleaning prior to returning the item to service. Maintenance can be conducted in-situ or the item can be removed to a maintenance facility.
Installing a restraint system involves attachment to a parent system.
