List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
ELEMENTS | PERFORMANCE CRITERIA |
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions. |
1. Identify requirements to maintain and contribute to energy efficiency | 1.1 Identify and review requirements to maintain energy efficiency 1.2 Identify benefits relating to energy efficiency and the forest and wood products industry 1.3 Using a life-cycle analysis, compare the benefits of using forest and wood products to other building materials |
2. Follow and promote energy efficient work practices | 2.1 Adhere to site energy efficiency policy and procedures, including those related to recycling and waste management 2.2 Operate equipment to ensure maximum energy efficiency 2.3 Monitor own work practices to maintain energy efficiency 2.4 Promote positive aspects of the forest and wood products industry in comparison to other building materials to internal and external stakeholders |
3. Contribute to systems improvement with regard to energy efficiency | 3.1 Contribute to and support reviews of operations for improvements in energy efficiency 3.2 Identify opportunities for efficiencies in consumption or raw materials and progress through appropriate personnel 3.3 Identify opportunities for innovation in energy efficiency and progress through established channels. |
A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:
follow organisational policies and procedures relevant to maintaining and contributing to energy efficiency
the safe use of relevant equipment to complete work tasks while optimising energy efficiency
participating in processes to improve energy efficiency.
A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:
Organisational and site standards, requirements, policies and procedures relevant to maintaining and contributing to energy efficiency
Environmental protection requirements, including the safe disposal of waste material and site recycling, recovery and waste management procedures
Workplace communication channels, protocols and procedures
Role of forests, forestry and forest products in carbon capture and storage
Role of the forest and timber products industry in minimising greenhouse emissions
Life cycle analysis of forests and forest products in comparison to other building materials.
The following resources must be made available:
policies and procedures relevant to energy efficiency
Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.
Assessor requirements
Assessors must:
hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in the regulations; and
be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and
be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence.
