This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to implement and continuously improve innovative thinking and practice in any forestry industry context and to operations of all sizes.

It applies to job roles including managers who oversee business areas, processes or teams and they may use innovative thinking and practice to advance business processes.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1.1 Integrate and apply current innovative practice and organisational trends to the development of experiences for innovative thinking and creativity in an organisation.

1.2 Analyse operational issues and conditions as a stimulus for innovative thinking and creativity.

1.3 Identify opportunities to initiate and manage individual and collective innovative thinking and creativity activities based on operational analysis.

1.4 Apply workplace methods and tools for generating new ideas and innovative thinking.

2. Manage innovative practices

2.1 Review, challenge and refine own management style and practice to model and support innovation.

2.2 Determine operational requirements needed to promote sustainable innovative practices.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, and must be able to provide evidence that they can:

A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Assessor requirements

Assessors must:

Hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and

be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and

be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence.
