A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy all of the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit. If a specific volume or frequency is not stated below, then evidence must be provided that the following requirements have been performed on at least one occasion:
complete animal pest control procedures in line with an individual work order prescribing the animal species to be controlled
for each of the above procedures:
obtain the required permits or licences for the control activity
select the most appropriate control method for the species
across the above procedures, use one or more of these animal control methods:
all legally approved forms of trapping pests
all legally approved baits and methods of distribution
legally approved shooting
at the completion of each of the above jobs:
dispose of pests in line with environmental protection practices
compete basic records for pest control outcomes.
A person competent in this unit must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

animal-handling techniques to minimise animal distress
signage requirements to indicate presence of animal control measures:

organisational procedures specific to controlling animal pests:
workplace health and safety with particular emphasis on use of personal protective equipment and handling hazardous substances
communication reporting lines

Assessor requirements
Assessors must:
hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and
be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and
be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence
