List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions. |
1. Prepare for vacuum painting process. | 1.1 Work order is reviewed and checked with appropriate personnel. 1.2 Identify and follow safe work procedure for vacuum painting. 1.3 Acquire type and quantity of articles to be vacuum painted from storage location. 1.4 Check equipment for operational effectiveness in line with manufacturer's recommendations and site requirements. 1.5 Plan and select vacuum painting process, feed rates and paint in line with site procedures. 1.6 Load paint products in equipment in line with manufacturer's specifications and safe work procedure. 1.7 Manufacture and fit paint templates according to manufacturer's specifications and safe work procedure. 1.8 Communicate with relevant personnel as required, to ensure safety and production requirements are met. |
2. Vacuum paint. | 2.1 Operate vacuum paint coater in line with recipes and manufacturer's recommendations. 2.2 Apply paint and continuously monitor and adjust flow rates and viscosity in line with site requirements. 2.3 Continuously monitor paint operations and wet film thickness, clearing blockages and filters to maintain paint coverage to specifications. 2.4 Regularly check products for surface quality and contamination in line with site requirements and take corrective action. 2.5 Remove sub-standard painted items from painting process and review for further action. 2.6 Calibrate test equipment and regularly test samples of paint. |
3. Operate drying oven. | 3.1 Start ovens and bring to operating temperature in line with manufacturer's specifications. 3.2 Monitor oven drying processes in line with standard operating procedures. 3.3 Reject and dispose of products with oven drying defects in line with site procedures and environmental requirements. 3.4 Adjust drying operations in response to paint adhesion test results. |
4. Operate de-nibber. | 4.1 Set up and start de-nibbing machine in line with manufacturer's recommendations. 4.2 Select and install profile flap brushes. 4.3 Process and assess sample strips. 4.4 Reject and dispose of products with de-nibber defects in line with site procedures and environmental requirements. 4.5 Adjust de-nibbing process in line with sample results. 4.6 Operate and monitor de-nibbing machine in line with standard operating procedures. 4.7 Investigate and resolve routine de-nibbing problems. |
5. Shut down and clean equipment and record information. | 5.1 Shut down equipment in coordination with other line operators and site procedures. 5.2 Turn off vacuum coater, dryer and de-nibber and flush equipment in line with standard operating procedures. 5.3 Dispose of excess paint and flushing liquid in line with statutory requirements and environmental regulations. 5.4 Store equipment and paint in line with statutory requirements and environmental regulations. 5.5 Record and report processing and equipment faults to appropriate personnel. |
