You may want to include more information here about the target group and the purpose of the assessments (eg formative, summative, recognition)

Evidence Required

List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.

ELEMENT

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes.

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

1. Prepare for job

1.1 Job specifications are determined from job documentation or production control system

1.2 Availability of all job related components is checked

2. Set up sewing machine

2.1 Feeder is set up and adjusted according to job specifications

2.2 Different types of thread are set up according to job specifications, and thread tension is correct

2.3 Different types of needles are fitted according to job specifications

2.4 Correct sewing tape is attached to the machine according to job specifications

2.5 Hand rules are set according to job specifications

2.6 Timing of slitter is adjusted according to job specifications

3. Complete work

3.1 Sewing machine is operated safely according to enterprise procedures

3.2 Job is completed in required time

3.3 Samples are continuously monitored for defects, and defects are removed

3.4 Locations of all emergency shutdown buttons and triggers are known

3.5 All processed product is stacked and packed in bundles

Evidence of the ability to:

set up and efficiently operate a machine to produce THREE different sewn products according to job specifications, listed performance criteria, and within production timeframes

demonstrate all safety devices on the machine.

If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

explain work health and safety factors for setting up the machine

establish effect of sewing in the wrong position

identify largest/smallest size bag or sack that can be processed on the machine

describe how to adapt the machines to facilitate smaller/larger stock.

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the converting, binding and finishing field of work and include access to relevant facilities, materials and access to a machine for sewn fastening.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
