List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
ELEMENT | PERFORMANCE CRITERIA |
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. |
1. Prepare for die and stripper making | 1.1 Die and stripper making requirements are identified and selected from die drawing or inspection 1.2 Availability of all job related components is checked 1.3 Materials chosen are appropriate for cutting forme design and the machine cutting forme/stripper they are to be used on |
2. Prepare materials | 2.1 Cutting forme/stripper making materials are assessed and cut to size 2.2 Cutting forme/stripper making materials are correct size for production requirements 2.3 Stripper backing material is correct size for production requirements 2.4 Product design is drawn onto cutting forme blank to match cutting forme design 2.5 Drawing is in register on cutting forme blank 2.6 Drawing is in register on stripper backing material |
3. Prepare lay down sheet and cutting forme tracing | 3.1 Lay down sheet and cutting forme tracing are glued correctly onto cutting forme blank 3.2 Lay down sheet is in register on cutting forme blank 3.3 Cutting forme tracing matches product design |
4. Design location of bridges, stripping rule and mounting holes | 4.1 Cutting forme maintains required strength 4.2 Waste is cut to suit waste extraction system 4.3 Mounting holes register with holes in cutting forme blank |
Evidence of the ability to:
prepare materials for TWO cutting formes (one large, one small) to accommodate TWO differing typically used substrates, using all relevant processes according to manufacturer’s and job specifications, enterprise procedures and listed performance criteria, within the production timeframe.
Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.
To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
identify work health and safety factors for cutting materials
list names of substrates commonly cut by these cutting formes
determine the impact of different substrates on forme setting
determine the size of the stripper backer material
explain the care to take when drawing design onto blank
ensure correct registration when drawing design onto blank, and when gluing and laying down the cutting forme tracing onto the cutting forme blank
list the factors that determine the:
thickness of stripping rule
position and number of bridges
position and number of mounting holes
identify machine manuals, safety and other documentation relevant to this task, where they are kept, and the information included in them.
Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the converting, binding and finishing field of work and include access to relevant facilities, special purpose tools, equipment and materials.
Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
