List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
ELEMENT | PERFORMANCE CRITERIA |
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. |
1 Produce step and repeat layout | 1.1 Client information is gathered to enable step and repeat layout 1.2 Layout is produced according to client information 1.3 Data is stored for future retrieval using industry software package 1.4 Register of stock levels is maintained, and advice about depletion of stock is recorded according to enterprise procedures |
2 Set up step and repeat machine | 2.1 Film is mounted squarely to produce an accurate image 2.2 Accurate masks are cut for image protection/bleeds 2.3 Mounting foils are positioned in a chase to ensure a quality output 2.4 Film or plate is punched, loaded, exposed and processed according to job specifications |
Evidence of the ability to:
prepare and set up of at least TWO step and repeat layouts for production of multiple repeated images according to listed performance criteria and job specifications
transfer underlying skills of step and repeat across different pre-press systems and printing processes
find and use information relevant to the task from a variety of information sources.
Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.
To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:
explain relationship between image of the original and the final substrate
describe calculation required to produce final layout
explain necessary steps to ensure correct and safe operation of the step and repeat machine
outline work health and safety (WHS) concerns when processing printing plates
explain how to prepare and use a mask to suit the job
outline procedures to ensure correct registration and accuracy/repeatability of exposure
identify manuals, safety and other documentation relevant to this task, where they are kept, and information included in them.
Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the Pre-Press field of work and include access to special purpose tools, equipment and industry software packages.
Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
