This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead the identification, management and implementation of specific industry technologies to meet identified industry standards.

It applies to individuals who work in senior information and communications technology (ICT) leadership roles and are engaged in ongoing review and research to improve aspects of the organisation's activities.

Direct the application of industry specific technologies to assist in solving specific organisational problems	2.1 Lead management of testing of industry specific technology 2.2 Direct implementation of specific features and functions of industry specific technologies to provide a suitable solution to an identified problem 2.3 Demonstrate depth of knowledge of enabling technologies to an accepted industry standard 2.4 Access and use sources of information relating to industry specific technologies

Lead the review, analysis and evaluation of the industry specific technology performance	3.1 Lead analysis of the implementation of the industry specific technologies for performance and usability 3.2 Analyse, review and evaluate the benefits to the organisation 3.3 Determine environmental considerations involved with using the technology 3.4 Seek feedback from users where appropriate

Evidence of the ability to:

determine new and emerging technologies suitable for organisational requirements

lead the implementation of new and emerging industry specific technologies

analyse, and critically evaluate the industry specific technology and its application to the organisation.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

analyse and appraise current technology trends and directions in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector

specify the major industry standards used for the new technologies

evaluate vendor products and the direction in which they are trending

summarise information gathering techniques

appraise the general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.

Gather evidence to demonstrate consistent performance in conditions that are safe and replicate the workplace. Noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances must be typical of those experienced in the general ICT industry, and include access to:

a site where industry specific technologies may be used

industry specific technologies currently used in industry

documents detailing workplace health and safety (WHS) standards, environmental guidelines and organisational requirements.

Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements.
