Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. To be deemed competent the candidate must be assessed using at least one of the guidelines listed in the the Range of Condistions. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.
accessing and interpreting risk management principles
explaining principles of relevant guidelines and putting into context
identifying the main functions of a water supply system
identifying risk control measures
listing the requirements of risk management plans
undertaking hazard identification and risk assessment on a specific project or site
evaluating records of water quality incidents
explaining relationship between guidelines, water quality management plans and work practices
Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.

established organisational risk management procedures
water quality risk assessment and control procedures

Competency should be assessed in an actual workplace or in a simulated environment, with access to equipment and infrastructure appropriate to the outcome. Competency should be demonstrated over time to ensure the candidate is assessed across a variety of situations.
Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
