This unit applies to personnel required to participate as a member of a team in a variety of activities to build community capacity in relation to prevention, preparedness and response to a fire or other event.
Work at this level is undertaken under direct supervision and instruction.
Examples of typical community safety activities that a person at this level may contribute to as a part of a team include: school programs; information and open days at fire stations; festivals; expos and community events; fire safety presentations; and demonstrations to individual groups and community meetings.
This unit covers the competency required to participate as a member of a team in community safety activities, working with the community on matters related to fire and other hazards, presenting agency approved community safety information and contributing to hazard mitigation activities.
Community safety activities provide an important opportunity to build community capacity in relation to prevention, preparedness and response to a fire or other event.
