This unit of competency supports licensed apprentice jockeys and approved riders to develop riding skills for jumping racing.
This unit can be contextualised for other industries while also maintaining the integrity of the unit.
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to select and fit approved gear, calculate distances between jumps, assess features of a jumping course, determine strategies and rules, control horses over jumps in all gaits and discuss plans to improve riding performance.
To undertake this unit the candidate will be able to handle horses safely, follow workplace OHS standards.
This unit of competency operates in work environments of racing stables, racecourses and public areas.
