Check conveyor operational status

Assessment tool

Version 1.0
Issue Date: April 2024

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to check conveyor operational status, in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant regulatory requirements within the transport and logistics industry.

It includes inspecting conveyor system and work areas, checking equipment operational capability, identifying and assessing faults and reporting inspection results.

Safety checks and equipment tests are performed under limited supervision.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

You may want to include more information here about the target group and the purpose of the assessments (eg formative, summative, recognition)

Evidence Required

List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.

Check equipment operational capability

2.1

Conveyors are inspected after start-up in accordance with manufacturer specifications, and workplace inspection specifications and procedures

2.2

Warning systems are checked for operational effectiveness

2.3

Records are checked to determine maintenance history and requirements and goods carried

3

Identify, assess faults and report inspection and testing results

3.1

Faults are identified and assessments are made of potential effect on equipment operation for required work, and details are forwarded to relevant personnel in accordance with workplace procedures

Assessment must occur in workplace operational situations where it is appropriate to do so; where this is not appropriate, assessment must occur in simulated workplace operational situations that replicate workplace conditions.

Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate.

Resources for assessment include:

a range of relevant exercises, case studies and/or simulations

applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice, safe plant and equipment guidelines and operation manuals
