This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to develop, update and apply knowledge of logistics, warehousing, storage and distribution when performing advanced international freight forwarding activities.

All activities are carried out in accordance with relevant organisational policy and procedures, as well as national and global codes of practice and regulations applicable to international freight forwarding.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

communicating effectively with others by checking to confirm that messages and responses are correctly and clearly understood (particularly in situations where communication is with a person for whom English is a second language)

completing documentation accurately

interpreting required knowledge of logistics, warehousing, storage and distribution to an international freight forwarding role and functions

interpreting and following operational instructions and prioritising work

modifying activities as required

monitoring work activities in terms of planned schedule

reading and interpreting instructions, procedures, information and regulations

reporting and/or rectifying identified problems promptly, in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures

working collaboratively with others when providing international freight forwarding services

working systematically with required attention to detail.

procedures of warehousing as they relate to freight forwarding

principles of quality assurance and customer service standards, policies and procedures as they apply in the international freight forwarding industry

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, which include requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

Assessment must occur in workplace operational situations where it is appropriate to do so. Where this is not appropriate, assessment must occur in simulated workplace operational situations that replicate workplace conditions.

Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate.

Resources for assessment include:

a range of relevant exercises, case studies and/or simulations

applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals

relevant materials, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment currently used in industry.
