This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to monitor the functions of an established supply chain in accordance with relevant organisational policy and procedures in various contexts in the transport and logistics industry.

It includes applying knowledge of the relevant principles to the relationships and functions within a supply chain. It also involves responsibility for monitoring the supply chain, contributing to sales forecasting and making recommendations to improve supply chain effectiveness.

Individuals work independently or as part of a team under direct and/or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

adapting own competence in response to any changes in activities

communicating effectively with others

completing relevant documentation

identifying and correctly using relevant equipment

interpreting and applying relevant regulations and instructions

modifying activities depending on workplace contingencies, situations and environments

monitoring and anticipating operational problems, hazards and risks, and taking appropriate action

monitoring sales and payments

monitoring work activities in terms of planned schedule

reading and interpreting relevant work requirements, policies, procedures and other information

reporting and/or rectifying identified problems, faults or malfunctions promptly, in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures.

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

organisational policies and procedures, including those pertaining to supply chain operations compliance monitoring

organisational quality system, to enable effective analysis of the supply chain operations

relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental procedures and guidelines

relevant sections of national and state/territory legislation, regulatory requirements, and codes of practice and/or guidelines as they relate to the level and type of supply chain operations

software systems commonly used in the transport and logistics industry, to enable the operation of efficient and accurate supply chain processes.

As a minimum, assessors must satisfy applicable regulatory requirements, which include requirements in the Standards for Registered Training Organisations current at the time of assessment.

Assessment must occur in workplace operational situations where it is appropriate to do so; where this is not appropriate, assessment must occur in simulated workplace operational situations that replicate workplace conditions.

Assessment processes and techniques must be appropriate to the language, literacy and numeracy requirements of the work being performed and the needs of the candidate.

a range of relevant exercises, case studies and/or simulations

applicable documentation including workplace procedures, regulations, codes of practice and operation manuals

relevant materials, tools, equipment and personal protective equipment currently used in industry.
