- Undertake site assessments and collect specimens
- Determine location of above-and-below-ground services
- Undertake a site-specific risk assessment by identifying work health and safety hazards and assessing risk
- Perform site assessment to identify conditions which may impact upon the health of trees on site
- Recognise stress inducing factors in accordance with characteristics of species
- Recognise a wide range of common diseases, pests and nutritional deficiencies in trees
- Recognise abiotic issues affecting health of trees
- Collect specimens of stressed material for testing
- Record and report results of site assessment and tests
- Research health characteristics of tree species
- Prepare treatment program
- Access and read treatment program and confirm activities with management
- Select appropriate treatment methods
- Select, prepare, and carry out pre-operational and safety checks, on tools, equipment and machinery
- Select and use personal protective equipment
- Identify environmental implications of undertaking treatment program, assess likely outcomes and take appropriate action
- Determine annual maintenance requirements for trees
- Contribute to preparing a comprehensive full-year maintenance program
- Record and implement work health, safety, site, environmental and traffic control measures
- Undertake treatment program
- Complete treatment program activities
- Dispose of infected plant material and chemical waste appropriately
- Sterilise equipment
- Clean and store personal protective equipment
- Follow up physical or chemical treatments to ensure effectiveness
- Determine timetables for follow up treatments and communicate them to work team
- Maintain records and document the report for that year
