Elements and Performance Criteria
- Identify Aboriginal sites, objects and materials and cultural landscapes on Country
- Identify and consult appropriate cultural authorities
- Obtain approval to be on Country and perform identification and recording work
- Determine boundaries and extent of Country according to Community guidelines and Aboriginal cultural protocols
- Determine details of land management and maintenance practices
- Identify Aboriginal materials and objects accurately
- Identify Aboriginal cultural landscapes and Aboriginal sites accurately
- Determine the interrelationship of discrete Aboriginal sites to cultural landscapes and Indigenous land management
- Carry out work on and off Country in accordance with work health and safety policies and procedures
- Use the relevant Information Management System (IMS)
- Determine the relevant government jurisdiction
- Research and determine the relevant information management system (IMS) in operation and the organisation responsible for maintaining the system
- Apply access restrictions to the IMS and confidentiality measures for recording secret, sacred materials
- Access the IMS and select relevant options
- Initiate and maintain, transfer of site, features and/or cultural landscape information
- Record information on Aboriginal sites, objects and cultural landscapes
- Use information and data collected about the Aboriginal site, objects, features or landscape according to Community guidelines and Aboriginal cultural protocols
- Acknowledge and avoid practices which could damage the level of trust and respect between stakeholders, negotiating parties and the Community
- Categorise and record site context, location and information data
- Categorise and record feature data
- Record Aboriginal Community interpretations, related history and culture and recommendations
- Use standard industry terminology and Aboriginal names for recording and documenting information, where appropriate
