Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for work on pumping and flow control systems
   • Read work instructions relating to work activity and confirm with the supervisor
   • Prepare tools and equipment and use according to the supervisor's instructions
   • Select personal protective equipment and clothing and ensure correct fit
   • Identify manual handling and other work health and safety hazards and tell supervisor
2. Carry out installation and maintenance tasks for pumps and flow control devices
   • Carry out installation tasks as directed for pumps and flow control devices
   • Carry out routine inspections of flow control and metering facilities in irrigation systems
   • Carry out preventative maintenance and service of equipment and facilities
3. Review, record and report activities
   • Check, maintain and store equipment, tools and materials
   • Restore work site to meet environmental and workplace requirements
   • Record and report installation and maintenance activities

Performance Evidence

The candidate must be assessed on their ability to integrate and apply the performance requirements of this unit in a workplace setting. Performance must be demonstrated consistently over time and in a suitable range of contexts.
