Elements and Performance Criteria
- Appraise contract documentation and determine operational requirements
- Copy of building approval and conditions is obtained as required
- Contract documentation is reviewed for any unusual aspects of construction, use of materials and penalties
- Availability of sub-contractors is ascertained and selected to suit job requirements
- Availability of materials is checked with suppliers
- Site access limitations are assessed
- Relevant authorities controlling construction work advised of commencement date for project as required
- Procedures are developed for site deliveries, plant hire and hazard to the environment
- Prepare project schedule for irrigation systeminstallation and construction
- Construction operations are prepared in sequence
- Operations are entered into a manually prepared schedule or computer based software package
- 2.3 'Critical path' is identified and schedule revised with new activities/projects, as needed, and documented
- Timeframe is adjusted to take account of anticipated delays
- Determine all the required resources for project
- Implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and risk management procedures
- First aid facilities are established as necessary
- Plant and equipment requiring certificated operators are identified to comply with risk management procedures
- Likely hazards are identified and precautions taken
- Role of Construction Safety Supervisor is identified
- Documentation for safety reporting is instigated
- Organise the installation of materials and equipment
- Supervise on-site operations
- Operations are implemented according to appropriate schedule and contract
- Sub-contractor operations are co-ordinated and monitored, including all aspects of materials used and standards of workmanship
- Problems and delays are addressed as they arise and action recorded
- Industrial relations are monitored continuously and issues resolved to minimise impact on job progress
- Revisions are made to project schedule, when required, and variations documented to comply with quality management procedures
- Quality management procedures are applied continuously as per adopted standards for job
- Safety procedures are monitored continuously, reports analysed and procedures reviewed as required
- Reports on current project status are prepared for management
- Monitor budget and comply with employment requirements
