1. Identify customer needs
   • Appropriate interpersonal skills are used to accurately identify customer needs
   • Customer enquiries are handled courteously and promptly in accordance with enterprise procedures and industry requirements
   • Available products are matched to customer needs and against ecological considerations
   • Knowledge and understanding of irrigation products is actively and regularly researched and updated from authoritative sources
2. Provide advice on products and services
   • Advice that addresses customer needs is provided to customers in a timely and professional manner
   • Products that may meet customer needs are appropriately exhibited or explained to customer
   • Alternative and additional products and services are suggested as necessary
   • Customers concerns and questions are addressed sensitively in line with enterprise requirements
3. Recommend irrigation components and pumps
   • Irrigation design is interpreted
   • Pump and component requirements are established and discussed with customer
   • Advice is provided on irrigation pumps that is based on suitability for the task, energy efficiency from pump curves and serviceability
   • Advice on components is provided based on technically correct and current information
4. Research irrigation innovations and products
   • Contacts in irrigation product development are maintained and review of new products is conducted
   • Exhibitions and field displays are studied to update technical expertise
   • Technical information and extension advice is read and incorporated into advice to customers and clients
5. Conduct retail transactions with irrigation clients
   • Quantities for irrigation installation projects are estimated
   • Quotes on products and services are provided
   • Price and payment options are negotiated
   • Advice on irrigation product warranties is provided
   • Advice on and arrange product service and repairs is provided
   • Delivery of irrigation merchandise is arranged
