Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare materials, tools and equipment for intensive livestock work
   • Identify required materials, tools and equipment from lists and instructions provided by enterprise and supervisor
   • Carry out checks on all materials, tools and equipment and report insufficient or faulty items to the supervisor
   • Use safe manual handling techniques when loading and unloading materials and equipment
   • Select, check and use suitable personal protective equipment (PPE)
   • Identify work health and safety hazards and report to or seek support from supervisor
2. Undertake intensive livestock work as directed
   • Follow instructions and directions provided by supervisor and seek clarification when necessary
   • Carry out work in a safe and environmentally appropriate manner
   • Carry out livestock work in line with enterprise animal welfare polices
   • Interact with other staff and customers in a positive and professional manner
   • Report problems or difficulties in completing work to required standards or timelines to supervisor
3. Handle materials and equipment
   • Store waste material produced during work in a designated area according to supervisor's instructions
   • Handle and transport materials, equipment and machinery appropriately
   • Maintain a clean and safe work site
4. Clean up on completion of work
   • Return materials to store or dispose of appropriately
   • Clean, maintain and store tools and equipment appropriately
   • Report work outcomes to supervisor

Performance Evidence

The candidate must be assessed on their ability to integrate and apply the performance requirements of this unit in a workplace setting. Performance must be demonstrated consistently over time and in a suitable range of contexts.

The candidate must provide evidence that they can:
