Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare materials, tools and equipment for native seed collection
- Identify materials, tools and equipment required
- Conduct checks on materials, tools and equipment and report insufficient or faulty items
- Demonstrate correct manual handling techniques when loading and unloading materials
- Select and check suitable personal protective equipment
- Identify work health and safety hazards and tell supervisor
- Confirm licensing and regulatory requirements for seed collection activities
- Support native seed collection
- Follow work health and safety, environmentally sustainability and biosecurity policies and procedures when undertaking seed collection activities
- Provide assistance to support the activities of others, follow supervisor instructions, and seek clarification when necessary
- Provide support to collect seeds from a range of plants and from different areas of plants
- Provide assistance to check seeds for diseases and pests, separate seeds from other materials and weigh and store the seeds
- Place seed in clean containers and label the containers as directed by a supervisor
- Record seed information
- Clean up on completion of seed collection work
