Performance Evidence

The candidate must be assessed on their ability to integrate and apply the performance requirements of this unit in a workplace setting. Performance must be demonstrated consistently over time and in a suitable range of contexts.

The candidate must provide evidence that they can:

follow biosecurity procedures

make preparations to sex poultry

identify hatchlings to be sexed

sex poultry using feather or colour sexing methods

handle birds appropriately

follow hygiene requirements

follow administration requirements

follow animal welfare requirements

implement enterprise work health and safety policies


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of:

feather and colour sexing methods

methods for identifying trays of hatchlings

types and use, of machinery and equipment required

relevant work health and safety requirements

methods and animal welfare considerations for handling and holding poultry

relevant environmental and sustainability requirements, and procedures for disposal and management of wastes

requirements and procedures for cleaning and maintaining work areas

relevant records that are required

relevant biosecurity requirements
