Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to renovate turf
   • Identify the turf renovation site and extent of works
   • Select turf and renovation materials
   • Identify work health and safety hazards, assess risks and implement controls
   • Select, use and maintain safety and personal protective equipment (PPE)
2. Prepare renovation equipment
   • Carry out pre-operational and safety checks on tools, equipment and machinery
   • Calibrate and adjust tools, equipment and machinery
3. Implement sports turf renovation
   • Identify renovation works from the program and schedule work in a sequential, timely and effective manner
   • Review renovation tasks and undertake remedial action
   • Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout and on completion of work
4. Complete renovation activities
   • Remove and dispose of waste material in an environmentally aware and safe manner
   • Clean, maintain and store tools, equipment and machinery
   • Record and report work outcomes

Performance Evidence

The candidate must be assessed on their ability to integrate and apply the performance requirements of this unit in a workplace setting. Performance must be demonstrated consistently over time and in a suitable range of contexts.
