Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare
   • Work orders are reviewed to identify parts and materials to be assembled
   • Parts and materials are dispatched to assembly area
   • Details of parts and materials are recorded for stock control
   • Tools and equipment are selected and inspected and faults reported
2. Load parts onto assembly jigs
   • Workplace procedures are identified and followed
   • Parts are loaded onto assembly jig according to workplace instructions
   • Parts are aligned and clamped according to workplace instructions
3. Select and use adhesives, sealants, solvents and fasteners
   • Adhesives and sealants are selected as per work order requirements
   • Solvents are selected and used to remove excess adhesives and sealants
   • Fasteners are identified, selected and fitted to component according to work order instructions
4. Produce finished product
   • Parts are positioned and secured according to job specifications
   • Fasteners are tensioned to job specifications
   • Assemblies are inspected for quality and checked against job specifications
5. Complete work processes
   • Work area, tools and equipment are cleaned, checked and stored according to workplace procedures
   • Faulty equipment is identified, tagged and reported
   • Waste material is collected, recycled or disposed of according to workplace procedures
   • Work sheets are completed according to workplace procedures
