Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for work processes
   • Work orders, instructions, reports and quality requirements are obtained and confirmed
   • Spray booths, and hand and air tools are selected and checked for correct operation and faults are rectified or reported
   • Paint materials are identified and selected from job specifications
2. Prepare surface for painting
   • Workplace procedures are identified and followed
   • Surfaces are cleaned, degreased and prepared according to workplace procedures
   • Final finishing is performed on components and panel surfaces to workplace standards
   • Reject components and surfaces are identified, recorded and reported for rework or scrap according to workplace procedures
3. Prime painted surfaces
   • Paint materials are mixed and applied according to workplace procedures
   • Painted surfaces are finished to workplace quality standard
   • Reject paintwork is identified, recorded and reworked according to workplace procedures
4. Complete work processes
   • Work area is cleaned, and materials disposed of or recycled according to workplace procedures
   • Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked and stored according to workplace procedures
   • Faulty equipment is tagged and reported to supervisor
   • Workplace documentation is completed according to workplace procedures
