Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare
   • Workplace procedures are identified and followed
   • Job specifications, working drawings and calculations are identified and interpreted
   • Tools, equipment and resources are selected and inspected, and faults reported
2. Select fabrication materials
   • Fabrication materials are identified and prepared according to job specifications and working drawings
   • Defective materials are set aside for scrap or rework
3. Bend, shape and fabricate material
   • Bending, shaping and fabricating processes are applied according to job specifications and working drawings
   • Material distortion prevention measures are identified and applied according to job requirements
   • Bent, shaped and fabricated materials are checked against job specifications or working drawings
4. Complete the job
   • Work area is cleaned, and materials disposed of or recycled according to workplace procedures
   • Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked and stored according to workplace procedures
   • Faulty equipment is tagged and reported
   • Work sheets are completed according to workplace procedures
