Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare
   • Work orders, job specifications and drawings are identified and confirmed
   • Tools, equipment and materials are identified, selected and prepared according to work order and job specification
   • Materials are inspected for quality, and defects identified and reported
   • Welding equipment is selected, inspected, tested and adjusted according to job requirements
2. Weld components
   • Components are welded as identified in working drawings according to workplace procedures
   • Welds are completed to workplace quality standards and weld specifications
   • Welded parts are checked against job specifications
   • Weld faults are identified and rectified according to workplace procedures
3. Assemble and finish sub-assemblies
   • Sub-assemblies are completed and checked against job specification
   • Sub-assembly fasteners are tensioned to specifications
   • Seals, adhesives and sealants are applied to ensure joints are leak free
4. Complete work processes
   • Final inspections are made and faulty sub-assemblies are reworked in line with workplace procedures
   • Tools, equipment and work areas are cleaned, maintained, and inspected according to workplace procedures
   • Waste material is collected and recycled or disposed of according to workplace procedures
   • Faulty equipment is identified, tagged and reported according to workplace procedures
   • Work job sheets are completed and reported to supervisor
