- Determine job requirements
- Job specifications and requirements are interpreted and determined from job sheets and / or work instructions
- Appropriate plant/equipment is selected in accordance with job requirements
- Appropriate OHS practices are identified and followed in accordance with OHS, legislative and organisation requirements
- Select and set up cutting machine
- Appropriate machine for the job requirements is selected in accordance with organisation procedures
- Machine is inspected for safety and operational condition in accordance with organisation procedures
- Machine is set up and adjusted ready for operation
- Safety clothing and protective equipment are used according to OHS and organisation requirements
- Operate mechanical cutting equipment
- Cutting processes are planned to ensure most economical use of material is achieved
- Stops and guards are adjusted as required and material secured and positioned prior to machine start-up
- Machine started following organisation procedures and material cut to meet shape/size/length specifications within appropriate cutting allowances
- Machine maintenance procedures are completed in accordance with organisation procedures
- Cutting defects are identified and corrective actions are undertaken in accordance with organisation procedures
- Check material for conformance to specification
