Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to remove and replace motorcycle component or accessory
   • Task requirements are determined from workshop or activity instructions
   • Removal and replacement procedures and information are sourced and interpreted
   • Potential hazards and risks associated with the task are identified and reported to workplace supervisor
   • Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked for serviceability
2. Remove component or accessory
   • Component or accessory is identified and removed according to manufacturer specifications and without causing damage to other components or systems
   • Inspection of component or accessory is carried out according to manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures, and safety and environmental requirements

3. Replace component or accessory

Individuals must be able to demonstrate knowledge of:

work health and safety (WHS) and occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements relating to removing and replacing motorcycle components and accessories, including:

lifting and supporting motorcycles

selecting and using personal protective equipment (PPE)

avoiding entanglement when working with chains, sprockets, belts and pulleys

environmental requirements, including procedures for trapping, storing and disposing of lubricants, oils and fluids released during the adjustment process
