1. Clarify details of steering and suspension modification
   • Confirmation is sought, through discussion with the customer, of the nature of steering and suspension modification
   • Modification specifications and dimensions are determined and documented
   • Non-standard steering and suspension components are identified
2. Determine specific ADR information relating to modification
   • ADR bulletin applicable to modification is sourced and ruling on the legality of intended modification is identified and interpreted
   • Compliance of modification specifications with ADR requirements is identified and documented
   • Interpretation of ruling in relation to intended modification is clarified and discussed with customer
3. Recommend a plan of action to achieve ADR requirements
   • Suitable plan of action to meet ADR requirements is discussed and clarified with customer
   • Workplace documentation, including recommendations for modification, is processed according to workplace procedures

Before competency can be determined, individuals must demonstrate they can perform the following according to the standards defined in this unit’s elements, performance criteria and foundation skills:

determine the compliance of two of the following vehicle steering and suspension modifications:

lowered or raised normal ride heights

increased track width

variations between front and rear ride heights

replacement wheel and tyre assemblies

replacement steering wheel

fitted or replacement sway bar, track rod or strut brace

conversion of vehicle from left-hand drive to right-hand drive.
