- Assess event conditions
- Familiarise self with rules and regulations governing the event or competition
- Assess the participant status and criteria for the event or competition
- Ensure the environment, facilities and equipment within own area of responsibility are in accordance with requirements for the event or competition
- Assess and confirm that the safety and other risk management issues are within acceptable levels prior to the commencement of the event or competition, within own area of responsibility
- Report any concerns promptly to senior official
- Observe the conduct of an event
- Interpret and apply rules and regulations
- Follow the rules and regulations of motorsport in the performance of duties
- Practice ethical behaviour in the application of rules and regulations
- Discuss the consequences of perceived corruption or conflict of interest on the image of motorsport
- Determine the rule or regulation which is appropriate for the given situation
- Interpret the rule or regulation for the given situation to ensure consistency with competition outcomes
- Make decisions based on fairness
- Comply with directions and requests from stewards and senior officials
