Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for dynamometer operation
   • Job requirements are determined from test information
   • Dynamometer is checked for calibration and serviceability according to manufacturer and workplace procedures
   • Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked for serviceability
   • Hazards associated with the work are identified and risks are managed according to safety and environmental requirements
   • Engine or vehicle is checked prior to testing according to manufacturer and workplace procedures
   • Engine or vehicle connections to dynamometer are checked and secured according to manufacturer, workplace and safety procedures
2. Conduct dynamometer testing
   • Appropriate load and run sequence and test parameters are determined, including run-in period for new engines
   • Selected dynamometer testing sequence is carried out according to manufacturer and team procedures and safety requirements, and data is documented
   • Correction factors are calculated and applied to data
3. Analyse test results
   • Dynamometer test data is analysed and conclusions are drawn about condition and performance of engine and associated systems according to manufacturer specifications and workplace procedures
   • Findings are reported based on dynamometer data, including recommendations for engine configuration and/or modifications to improve performance, according to workplace procedures

test environment correction factors

dynamometer data interpretation and analysis

operator dynamometer maintenance procedures
