Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to undertake steering system inspection
- Nature and scope of work requirements are identified and confirmed
- OH&S requirements, including individual State/Territory regulatory requirements and personal protection needs are observed throughout the work
- Procedures and information such as workshop manuals and specifications, and tooling required, are sourced
- Methods appropriate to the circumstances are selected and prepared in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Resources required for steering system inspection are sourced and support equipment is identified and prepared
- Inspect steering system/components and assess condition
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Inspection of steering systems is carried out in accordance with manufacturer/component supplier specifications for methods, tooling and equipment
- Steering system inspection is completed without causing damage to any component or system
- System/component condition is determined by comparing actual component condition to manufacturer/component supplier specifications for limits/tolerances and to State/Territory legislation regarding vehicle roadworthiness
- Steering system inspection and condition identification activities are carried out according to industry regulations/ guidelines, OH&S legislation, legislation and enterprise procedures/policies
- Prepare vehicle for delivery to customer
