Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to undertake petrol fuel system repair
- Nature and scope of work requirements are identified and confirmed
- OH&S requirements, including individual State/Territory regulatory requirements and personal protection needs are observed throughout the work
- Procedures and information such as workshop manuals and specifications, and tooling, are sourced
- Method options are analysed and those most appropriate to the circumstances are selected and prepared
- Technical and/or calibration requirements for repairs are sourced and support equipment is identified and prepared
- Warnings in relation to working with petrol are observed
- Test fuel systems and analyse results
- Methods for conducting tests are implemented in accordance with workplace procedures and manufacturer/ component supplier specifications
- Component test results are compared with manufacturer/ component supplier specifications to indicate compliance or non-compliance
- Results are documented with evidence and supporting information and recommendation(s) made
- Report is forwarded to persons for action in accordance with workplace procedures
- Repair petrol fuel system components
- Correct information is accessed and interpreted from manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Repairs and adjustments of fuel system/components are carried out in accordance with manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Petrol fuel system component repairs are completed without causing damage to any component or system
- Adjustments made during the repair are in accordance with manufacturer/component supplier specifications
- Engine is run and fuel system tested for correct operation
- Prepare fuel system for normal operation
