Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for work.
- Irrigation plans and specifications are obtained and site is inspected.
- Safety (OHS) requirements associated with installing and commissioning domestic irrigation pumps, and workplace environmental requirements, are adhered to throughout the work.
- Quality assurance requirements are identified and adhered to in accordance with workplace requirements.
- Tasks are planned and sequenced in conjunction with others involved in or affected by the work and statutory and regulatory authority requirements.
- Tools and equipment for installing and commissioning domestic irrigation pumps, including personal protective equipment, are selected and checked for serviceability.
- Work area is prepared to support efficient installation and commissioning of domestic irrigation pumps.
- Identify installation requirements.
- Irrigation system requirements are identified from plans, specifications and relevant information.
- Pump and installation materials are selected according to type, installation, range of flow rates, operating head and delivery distance.
- Pump is identified, ordered and collected in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Pump is checked for compliance with standards, docket and order form, and for acceptable condition.
- Install and commission pump.
- Pump set out position is compliant with irrigation plans and manufacturer recommendations.
- Pump base is installed in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Pump is fitted onto base, aligned to mark out and fastened and fixed into position.
- Suction line is connected to pump in accordance with specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
- Discharge line is connected to pump in accordance with specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
- Piping and pump is pressure tested in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Operation of pump is tested and adjusted to achieve effective operation in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Details of test data are recorded and documented in format required by quality assurance procedures.
- Clean up.
- Work area is cleared and materials disposed of or recycled in accordance with state and territory legislation and workplace procedures.
- Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and workplace procedures.
- Documentation is completed in accordance with workplace requirements.
