Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

The person must also prepare a written estimate of the cost range of implementing the home sustainability measures identified through a home sustainability assessment of one residential building.

In doing the above, the person must:

gather information on a range of home sustainability products and services and assess their relative benefits

present and explain the estimated cost range of home sustainability measures to the client

apply knowledge of the procedure for estimating the cost range of implementing home sustainability measures.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must demonstrate knowledge of:

factors involved in estimating costs of home sustainability products and services:

cost range

ethical practices in identifying suppliers and product and service information

limitations

procedure for preparing cost estimates

product and service specifications

reasons for factoring in inclusions, exclusions and limitations

required information

sources of information

home sustainability products and services:

rebates and other forms of assistance

sources of information on home sustainability products and services

types, cost and features:

energy

thermal performance

waste

water

relevant commonwealth, state or territory, and local government legislation and regulations relating to:

consumer protection and trade practices

home sustainability assessment

privacy

work health and safety (WHS).
