Elements and Performance Criteria

Aquatic facility plant and equipment must include at least two of the following:

automated system

circulation and filtration system

cleaning system

heating system

lighting and ventilation system

sanitisation system

water supply and waste water disposal system.

Service and maintenance requirements must include:

adjustments

checking lighting level

cleaning

confirming operation of plant and equipment

identifying worn parts

inspecting

lubricating

programming automated systems

replacing consumable or worn parts

routine repairs

testing.

Troubleshooting must include:

identifying standard faults using relevant manuals and specifications

identifying from first principles faults beyond available maintenance data for aquatic facility plant and equipment

fault finding during scheduled or unscheduled maintenance activities

individual activities or troubleshooting tasks performed during the supervision of other personnel.


Performance Evidence

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must satisfy the requirements of the elements, performance criteria, foundation skills and range of conditions of this unit.

The person must also demonstrate safe procedures when inspecting, servicing and repairing two of the following different items of aquatic plant and equipment:

automated system

circulation and filtration system

cleaning system

heating system

lighting and ventilation system

sanitisation system

water supply and waste water disposal system.

In doing the above, the person must:

prepare for work

select and use personal protective equipment (PPE)

inspect aquatic facility plant and equipment

assess risks associated with inspection, repair and servicing activities

service aquatic facility plant and equipment

troubleshoot routine and complex faults in aquatic facility plant and equipment

complete inspection, service and repair activities.

A person demonstrating competency in this unit must demonstrate knowledge of:

maintenance procedures

types, operation, installation, commissioning and servicing of aquatic facility plant and equipment:

commonwealth, state or territory legislation, and local government regulations, Australian standards and codes of practice impacting on the inspection, service and repair of aquatic facility plant and equipment relating to:

work health and safety (WHS)

private and public swimming pools and spas

safe and unsafe aquatic plant and equipment
