Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare for complex supervision
   • Identify the key stakeholders in high risk offenders' supervision.
   • Select appropriate strategies in the management of key stakeholder relationships.
2. Maintain personal safety whilst supervising high risk offenders
   • Identify and apply relevant procedures to the case management of high risk offenders.
   • Identify risks to self associated with contact with high risk offenders.
   • Identify and incorporate a range of preventative strategies in the management of high risk offenders.
   • Recognise potential causes of personal stress so that immediate action can be taken to reduce or eliminate the stress.
   • Adopt strategies to manage personal stress.
3. Report on high risk offenders
   • Prepare reports on high risk offenders.
   • Submit reports to approved stakeholders.
   • Maintain privacy and confidentiality according to legislative requirements.
   • Provide information as required to stakeholders.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least two occasions.

using offender intervention, treatment planning and monitoring strategies

compiling written reports of a complex nature

making recommendations and risk assessments based on offender reports

using effective communication skills to enable management of high risk offenders

maintaining continuous collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to ensure management of high risk offenders

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
