Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and test broadcast equipment and systems
according to enterprise and safety requirements

carry out routine maintenance, equipment upgrades and system alignments, according to enterprise and safety requirements

refer faults or repairs outside scope of own job role to appropriate personnel

document maintenance requirements and actions according to industry and enterprise procedures

provide clear information to personnel about correct usage and maintenance of facilities or equipment.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

list and describe the features and operational standards for the enterprise-specific equipment and facilities

describe features of common test measurement equipment used for maintaining broadcast equipment and facilities

identify industry regulations and standards and certification requirements governing maintenance of broadcast equipment and facilities

identify sources of advice, information, and specialist technical support

outline typical faults that arise in maintaining broadcasting equipment and facilities and how to handle these

describe procedures for disposing of obsolete equipment

identify work health and safety (WHS) requirements as they relate to broadcast system maintenance.
