Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for cable rigs
- Confirm cabling requirements for shoots with production personnel and select appropriate camera cables
- 1.2 Repair minor cable faults safely and in line with manufacturer's instructions
- Refer complex repairs to technical specialists in line with enterprise procedures
- Complete workplace documentation in line with enterprise requirements
- Check camera cables are operational and ready for use on location

- Check available power source is appropriate
- Confirm cable points and cable runs from camera plans and other cabling information
- Establish cable points, runs and lengths to meet anticipated camera movements, taking care to minimise cable cross-overs
- Lay out excess cable to avoid knotting or twisting during use
- Run power cables from power source to cameras and other equipment
- Secure cables to avoid strain on plugs and sockets
- Complete cable routing and patching to camera control units, cable slinging and cable ramping safely, and in line with camera plans
- Check camera cables are run from correct outlet points to cameras and do not impede movement of cameras during shoots
- Check installed camera cables do not present a hazard to personnel involved in shoots or to the general public
- Lay tracks for dolly mounts
- Position tracks according to production requirements and confirm final positioning with production staff
- Lay tracks safely, taking account of ground conditions and site safety plans
- Check tracks are placed without risk to production personnel, and are smooth, level and secure throughout their route
- Check tracks do not intrude on proposed shots and allow free movement of camera equipment and personnel
- Secure dolly to track and check fastenings
- Disassemble camera cables and dolly tracks
- Break down cabling and coil or wind cables onto drums to avoid strain or damage
- Use safe lifting techniques when breaking down and carrying track equipment
- Report equipment damage to relevant production staff and complete required documentation
- Clean and safely pack equipment and prepare for transport
- Leave locations in original or improved condition
