  1. Participate in pre-production activities
  2. Generate ideas for choreography
  3. Create original choreography
  4. Produce work for public performances
  5. Evaluate choreography of public performances

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

prepare an appropriate choreographic response to a stage or screen brief

develop ideas suitable for a major piece of choreography for public performance

demonstrate competent skills in dance craft and direction when presenting work in a public setting

work creatively, collaboratively and constructively with artists, performers and technical crew

apply composition skills to stage and screen mediums.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided for each of the above points at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements the individual must:

explain:

principles and techniques involved in composing dance for stage and screen

how film making aesthetics, processes, personnel and technologies affect the development of choreography

demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of:

formats used for legal contracts with choreographers working on stage and screen productions

safe dance practices when performing in stage and screen productions

musical styles, genres and rhythms used in different choreographic contexts

describe issues and challenges that arise when composing dance for stage and screen productions and suggest solutions to address them.
