Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare postproduction briefs
- Organise and participate in meetings with production personnel to define post-production requirements
- Establish creative and technical criteria for edits in close collaboration with production personnel
- Establish post-production schedules to optimise creative outcomes in accordance with overall production timelines
- Confirm editors have access to required editing materials to avoid delays to post-production activity
- Establish contingency plans in consultation with production personnel to overcome post-production problems that could necessitate re-shoots
- Monitor and evaluate editing activity
- Work with editors to resolve any problems during the post-production stage and maximise their input to achieving final outcomes
- Evaluate each stage of the editing process, in collaboration with relevant production personnel, and make adjustments to ensure that required creative and technical criteria are being met
- Evaluate all aspects of the editing process from a director’s perspective, including own performance, and note areas for future improvement
- Provide feedback to production personnel and invite comment on the post-production process
