Elements and Performance Criteria
- Clarify hair, make-up and costume requirements
- In consultation with relevant personnel, clarify performance requirements and identify factors that influence hair, make-up and costume preparation
- In consultation with relevant personnel, plan styles and colours of hair, make-up and costumes according to performance requirements
- Investigate differences in performance environments and include strategies to address them in production plans
- Confirm final designs and plans for make-up and hairdressing with relevant personnel
- Treat costumes in preparation for performance
- In consultation with relevant personnel, check costumes and determine treatment required in preparation for performances
- Complete simple costume modifications, repairs and laundering according to quality, safety and time requirements
- Review modifications against production plans and complete required documentation
- Label and store own costumes according to workplace and production requirements
- Ensure materials for maintaining hair, make-up and costumes are available for retouches during performances
- Apply make-up and hairstyles
- Work with relevant personnel as required to examine the physical structures and features of own head and body, and identify areas requiring corrective action or camouflage make-up and hairdressing
- Ensure own make-up and hair tools, products and equipment are available in line with production schedules
- Apply and remove products in sequence with appropriate techniques according to health and safety procedures
- Finalise make-up and hairstyles
- Select and apply finishing techniques to achieve planned design
- Follow procedures to minimise environmental impact of materials and products
- Work with relevant personnel to review hair, make-up and costume plans and check that final effect meets production requirements
- Document hair or make-up design for future performances and continuity purposes as required
