Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

edit screen content to meet creative and technical requirements of productions

form an overview of creative objectives of productions and contribute to discussions about achieving desired outcomes through post-production

anticipate and resolve issues that may delay completion of work within production timelines

check technical quality of source materials and their relevance to the overall vision for productions

supervise all aspects of preparing for and undertaking editing of screen productions

undertake ongoing evaluations of work in progress with relevant production personnel and adjust edits as required

follow procedures for completing workplace documentation.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.


Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

outline roles and responsibilities of post-production personnel

explain where post-production fits into the structure of the film and television industries

describe current and emerging technologies available for post-production activities

outline interaction between creative and technical elements of screen productions

identify typical problems of editing complex screen productions, and briefly describe solutions

describe current post-production techniques and editing conventions

outline features of a range of vision and sound editing software and equipment used in screen post-production

describe key aspects of ethical standards and protocols for editors working on screen productions

outline work health and safety requirements that apply to post-production environments.
